Q: I have a bay window and do not want to sacrifice the architectural quality by covering the depth of the bay?
A: Our skilled designers are capable of developing trapezoid-shaped mullions, securing the integrity of your window.
Q: I am concerned about the cost of shutters. Are they worth it?
A: Not only do shutters bring an architectural quality to your home, but they are a "forever" window treatment, adding to the overall resale value of your home. They insulate and require no maintenance, except for dusting. They never need refinishing, and ensure privacy as well as light control. Although the initial cost is relatively high, over the long run, it is the most economical treatment to use.
Q: I have a sliding door. How would shutters allow people to enter and exit with ease?
A: Our designers are not only concerned with how panels look. Their motto is that form must follow function! We design around windows and doors that have no depth and openings that need to be accessed for cleaning and ventilation.
Q: Who will install these panels?
A: Our company's philosophy dictates that the designer who measures is required to be on site for the installation. This ensures consistency of the product that was sold weeks before.
Q: I have a round window and would like to cover it with shutters? How can that be achieved?
A: All our specialty—shaped panels, regardless of the shape, can be made to conform to the exact configuration of the window opening. Templates of your existing window are taken on site and all needing framing strips are ordered to ensure a perfect fit. Panels to fit these openings can be made with operable or fixed louvers.
Q: I have beautiful woodwork surrounding my window. Because of the age of my home, I recognize that the openings are not square. How can you possibly make panels to fit these openings?
A: At Home Crafted Shutters, there are no shortcuts in installation. We always take the time to reflect on the inconsistencies of each opening. We provide for an interior framing system to cover and obscure light gaps.
Q: I find it difficult to decide which types of panels are appropriate for my décor.
A: There is a wide variety of architectural panels. We build panels containing horizontal louvers of varying sizes: from 1 ¼" traditional shutter panels to 5 ½" plantation louvers. We have raised panel shutters, flat panel shutters, vertical louvered shutters, combined raised panel/louvered shutters, curtain panels, shoji panels, etc. If that is not enough, we can follow your vision and produce unique products based on your designer's or architect's specifications.
Q: I would like to have shutters produced with the same color finish as my moldings. Is this possible?
A: We are capable of custom painting or staining the panels of your choice by matching what already exists in your home. The texture of our panels can vary as well. We can sandblast panels for a wonderful Santa Fe look, we can paint your shutters in high gloss lacquer (as well as flat finishes), or we can produce a flawless semi-gloss surface. All of our shutters are built with integrity and have a furniture-quality finish.
Q: If I make an appointment with your company, will there be a surcharge attached to this service?
A: Our philosophy is that after seeing our sample panels in the context of your home, you are free to either move forward or wait to make a decision. We have a sales team who doesn't believe in pressuring our customers.
